September 9, 2007 (090907) was indeed an unforgettable day for both of us. On this day, we are officially registered as husband and wife, although for us Chinese, we would normally be considered married only after the actual Chinese Wedding Ceremony. So, what happened on this day? Both our families and friends gathered at the Morale Uplifting Society a.k.a. "de jia hui" in Penang to witness and share the joy with us. When we arrived, we were greeted by all our friends that were waiting for us at the lobby area. We are nervous. Why? Not only that we are overwhelmed by the crowd waiting for us, but also, we are anxious about what's going to happen next - the swearing by couples for marriage registration.
We decided earlier on to recite the swearing in Chinese (there is a English version). The only problem is that I do not know how to read Chinese characters. So, I memorized the whole paragraphs for a few days with YF's help. Guess what, my memory fails me on that day after reciting the first paragraph and it turned out to be quite a funny experience, pronoucing the phrases wrongly. Anyway, I guess it worked out after all. We finally signed the papers - did I mentioned I have to call YF's dad as Daddy on the spot before he signed? Sounded easy, but not for me. I'm used to calling her dad uncle. We exchanged rings and I presented flowers to my girl (a 9 liles + 9 pink roses bouquet) - only to follow with some unexpected kisses from all the couples that present - this is the first time I saw my dad kisses my mom. So is YF's parents too :)
All in all, it was really wonderful to have everyone's presence on that day. We are blessed! Thank you! ^_^
Here are some photos taken, a picture speaks a thousand words :)
